Francis X. "Frank" Hart, a former Wickenburg resident, died Feb. 9 in Casa Grande. He was 74.
Mr. Hart was born Feb. 28, 1927 in Hyannis, Massachusetts to Walter and Marie Hart. He had lived in Arizona for the past 11 years.
Frank's love of music, education and his family showed in everything he did. He earned a music scholarship to the University of Alabama, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. He received his master's degree in music at the University of Michigan. He played in the marching band at both universities.
Frank taught all grade levels as a band director in education from elementary school to Assumption University in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, where he directed a large band. He also played brass in the Windsor, Ontario Symphony Orchestra.
Frank loved his children and wife dearly, making sure they received their education, too. He and his wife, Kathy, traveled full-time for five years, sharing the gospel in music and song.
Frank's greatest enjoyment was being a member of the Frustrated Maestros. He belonged to several chapters. He was also a member of the Lions Club in Wickenburg, and the Elks Club in Casa Grande, Coolidge/Florence and Wickenburg. He served as the treasurer of the Arizona Retired Educators Association, was a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard, and a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Arizona City.
He will be remembered for his smile, his ambition, and his dedication to getting things done. He touched many lives with his musical ability and brought a lot of sunshine along the way.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Kathryn "Kathy" Hart of Casa Grande; daughters Katherine Hart of Alexandria, Va., Loeanne Holtzhouse of Ypsilanti Township, Mich., and Lucy Holtzhouse of Lansing, Mich.; sons Richard and wife Slava Hart and Thomas and wife Peggy Hart, all of Alexandria, Va.; sisters Mary "Terry" Hart-Cogan of Chatham, Mass. and Margaret "Peggy" Hart-Foley of Centerville, Mass.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
