Connie Eshmal Rush, 93, died Oct. 28, 2002 in Sun City West, Ariz. Mr. Rush, a resident of Peeples Valley, was born Nov. 20, 1908 in Blanco, Okla. Mr. Rush was an agricultural laborer.
Mr. Rush was a Potawatomi Indian. He left Oklahoma in 1936 in a 1929 Model T Ford during the Dust Bowl Days to find a better life for his family. He worked mostly on farms and ranches all over the states of Arizona and California.
He always loved to go treasure hunting for fire agate and panning for gold, and of course looking for the Lost Dutchman's Mine.
He lived through an era full of so much history - from horses, "horseless carriages," to airplanes, to a man walking on the moon.
He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Rush is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Leona and Raymond Nalley of Pauls Valley, Okla.; Norma and Howard DeShazo of Parks, Ark.; Connie and Elton Neal of Bakersfield, Calif.; Sue and C.W. Elrod of Cherry Valley, Ark. Sons and daughters-in-law Joe and Lois Rush of Wittmann, Ariz.; Charles and Brenda Rush of Wittmann, Ariz.; Bill and Ester Rush of Bakersfield, Calif. Sisters Sarah Southern of Clayton, Okla.; Gladys Rice of Pittsburg, Okla.; Nancy McFadden of Hobbs, N.M. Brother Henry Norris of Clayton, Okla. Seventeen grandchildren. Numerous great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Rush was preceded in death by wife Ruby Rush; daughters Loretta Peel, Betty Rush and Baby Girl Rush. Grandsons Lance and Brandon Rush. Great-grandson Baby Boy Neal.
Visitation will be Thursday Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
Services will be held Friday Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home with burial to follow in Genung Memorial Park in Peeples Valley.
Arrangements were made by the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
