Charlene Steckman, 67, was born January 29, 1935 in Vattman Community, Texas. A Wickenburg November 19, 2002 in Phoenix.
Charlene was a leader in the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, and Brownies for several years. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. A homemaker, she was slo active in the P.T.A. while her children were in school.
Through the years, she taught many others how to make candles of every kind. She also enjoyed making Indian dolls, complete with leather clothes and decorating for the holidays.
Charlene has a fondness for Tweetie Bird, “Earnest,”cats and collecting Ty Beanie Babies. She was known to be very generous to others.
Her favorite pastime was riding her motorized scooter to Bashas’ and playing hid and seek with her husband Bill.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Bill; grandfather Ray Haggard of Wickenburg; sister Betty Knippa of Midland, Texas; daughters Colleen Hix of Paavola, Michigan, and Lorna Boynton of Baraga, Michigan; son Colby Hazzard of Wickenburg, grandchildren Cynthia Marie Mumm of Leslie, Michigan, Melissa Haggard of Albion, Michigan, Clint Reynolds Haggard of Michigan, Joseph Boynton of North Dakota, Robert Boynton of Minnesota, Ruth Hix of Paavolla, Michigan, and Rae Hix of Paavolla, Michigan; two great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Marianne Gregg and her daughter Krista Lea Gregg-Steckman of Wickenburg; cousin Floyd Durbin of Show Low.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Wickenburg Funeral Home with burial in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Dean Stanley of the First Southern Baptist Church of Wickenburg presided.
