LUCKY, Corine Edna

A11 Corine Edna Lucky, 82, of Wickenburg, Ariz., passed away Nov. 21 at a care facility in Phoenix after an extended illness and complications due to diabetes. Corine was born Sept. 28, 1920 in Ashbey, Neb. to Ernest and Eva Kingsbury. She was the last of four siblings. During her working career she was the manager of a large I. G. A. grocery store in Portland, Ore. until an injury forced her early retirement. On Jan, 18, 1963 she met and married Ivan Lucky, who preceded her in death in December of last year. She was also preceded in death by her only daughter, Eva Carter in October of 1973 while living in La Pine, Ore. Upon Eva’s death Corine and Iven took on all the responsibilities of caring for and raising their two young grandchildren while living on a fixed income. It was at that time they moved their family to Quartzsite, Ariz. where they remained until the children finished their schooling. In 1988 they moved to their home in Wickenburg where they remained. Corine is survived by her granddaughter and caregiver, Jaylene Lucky, Wickenburg, AZ and grandson Matt Carter and his wife Delana; one step great-granddaughter and one great-grandson of Scio, Ore.; several nieces and nephews also survive. Corine enjoyed her family, camping, fishing, and exploring the desert as well as her many craft projects. She will be remembered for her good cooking and sense of humor. She will also be remembered for the hundreds of pairs of panties and dolls she made and sold all over the United States. Services were conducted Nov. 25 at the Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg.
