Wallace Ben Huffman of Wickenburg died July 19 in Phoenix. He was 67.
Mr. Huffman was born Nov. 3, 1928 in LaGrande, Ore. He had lived in Arizona for the past five years, coming from Oregon.
Mr. Huffman graduated from LaGrand High School in 1946 and Oregon State University in 1950. He married Shirley Beth Leubring on June 11, 1950 in her parent’s home in Lewisburg, Ore.
Mr. Huffman was an engineer, retiring from the Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, Ore, in 1983.
The Huffmans relocated in Wickenburg in 1991.
Mr. Huffman was a member of the Masons, Elk, Civil Air Patrol in Wickenburg and Portland, Professional Engineering Society, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and the Air Search and Rescue in Portland, using his own aircraft. Mr. Huffman volunteered with income tax preparation the low-income and senior citizens in Wickenburg. He enjoyed flying, including instrument, aerobatic, seaplane and multi-engine ratings. He also enjoyed playing pinochle, was an avid reader and loved chocolate.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shirley Beth Huffman of Wickenburg; daughter and son-in-law Jeanine Ann and Michael Mayer of Portland; son and daughter-in-law Thomas Alan and ShariLynne Huffman of Corvallis, Ore; and grandson Jeremy and Mathew Mayer, both of Portland.
By Mr. Huffman’s request, there will be no services. His remains will be transported to the Huffman family plot in the LaGrande, Ore. Cemetery by his son, Thomas and daughter Jeanine.
Contributions in Mr. Huffman’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.
