Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona March 6, 1996, p. A2 John H. Campbell of Wickenburg died Feb 10 in Wickenburg. He was 68. Mr. Campbell was born Nov. 29, 1927 in Kentucky. He joined the navy in 1943 and after his discharge in 1946 he joined the Marines. He married Jane McCanless April 26, 1952 in Springfield, Tenn. He re-enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952, serving two tours in Vietnam and retiring in 1970. He was wounded during the second tour and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, among many other honors. He received a promotion to WO-II in the field. He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter Nancy Erdmann of Casselton, N.D. and Janice Thomas of Dilworth, Minn.; sister Lorraine Hensley of Nacogdoches, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, his parents, and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in West Funeral Home in Casselton, N.D. Thursday, march 7 at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be Friday, March 8 in Casselton Cemetery. West Funeral Home handles all arrangements.
