Raymond C. Hitzel, 89, passed away on March 25, 2003. He was born on April 28, 1913 in Brooklyn, New York. He ran, track for Richmond Hill High School and went to Saint John's College, St. John's Law School, Columbia University in New Yotk City and also the University of Michigan. He was admitted to the Bar in the state of New York in 1938, was an active trial lawyer and was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington D.C. in 1955.
He proudly spoke, wrote and read Japanese after serving in WWII with Army Military Intelligence. He semi-retired as an attorney in New York and moved to Arizona where he was a licensed real estate broker, bought and sold properties in Arizona and had his own real estate company. He enjoyed playing golf and won many tournaments. He was active in TROA and became President of the Arizona chapter and then the President of the Council of Chapters.
Survivors include this wife Maralyn; sister Audrey Herz Johnson and her husband Vern and nieces and nephews.
