SAVOY, James C.

James C. Savoy, 73, of Tempe, passed away on May 23, 2003. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and as a young boy, moved to Lancaster, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and enjoyed a long career as Director of 3 Zoos, Columbus, Detroit and Phoenix. He was the Director of the Phoenix Zoo from 1978 to 1990. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy, daughter, Susan and her husband, Steve, Son Scott and his wife Patti, as well as 2 granddaughters, Brittany and Sydney. He is also survived by 2 brothers, John of Maine and George of Ohio. A memorial service will be held Sat. May 31, 2003 at 4p.m. at Carr Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd. Tempe, Az.
