The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, April 2, 2003 Kathryn Odle Howbert, 93, of Phoenix, AZ passed away March 28, 2003. Born in Los Angeles, CA on Nov. 24, 1909, she moved to Arizona 6 yrs ago from Los Angeles. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Los Angeles High School. She was a member of Chapter QA of the PEO Sisterhood, Paradise Republican Women's Club, and Orangewood Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer at Beatitudes Age Link Children's Care Center and many other philanthropic and charitable organizations. Kathryn was an avid bridge player and ballroom dancer, and was the last living charter member of Westwood Presbyterian Church. She was the granddaughter of Samuel Reese, a prominent figure in the early growth and development of Los Angeles. She is survived by her husband, Clayton Howbert; daughter, Kathryn Jean Marinick; son, Richard C. Marinick; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Fri., April 4, 2003, at 2 PM at Life Center at the Beatitudes Campus of Care, 1668 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ. Memorial contributions may be made to Beatitudes AgeLink Child Care Center, 1548 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021; or to Orangewood Presbyterian Church, 7321 N. Tenth St., Phoenix, AZ 85020.
