The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Oct. 28, 1960 Mrs. Ella Ritter, State Pioneer, Dies at Age 89 Funeral services were held in Tempe last Saturday for Mrs. Ella Kirkland Ritter, the first Anglo child born in Phoenix, who died at her home in Tempe October 19 at the age of 89. Mrs. Ritter lived for many years in Kirkland, a town named for her father, Judge William Hudson Kirkland. She also lived in Congress Junction prior to 1910. Mrs. Ritter was living in the Prescott area during the Walnut Grove Dam disaster that claimed more than 50 lives along the Hassayampa River. A brother, Frank Kirkland of Phoenix, and several nieces and nephews survive.
