Child Is Killed in Auto Wreck
Tony Law, 2-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs. Hong Wong Law of El Paso, Texas, was dead upon arrival at Community Hospital just after midnight Sunday following injuries received in a three-car accident on Highway 60-70 approximately 6 miles west of Hope. The child’s parents, both with minor lacerations, were admitted to the hospital. Also admitted was Thomas Kotecki, 18, of Santa Barbara, Calif., driver of the second car. He suffered minor lacerations.
Highway Patrolman James Leech was quoted as saying the Law boy’s father, apparently blinded by a heavy rain, was driving on the wrong side of the road and slammed head on into a car driven by Kotecki. Another car driven by Walter Nichols, 39, of Fontana, Calif., smashed into the wreckage of the Law Car.
A second child of the Laws, a 4-year-old boy, was uninjured. Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Yee and family, also of El Paso, relatives of the Laws, were traveling in a second car. They took the uninjured child while his parents are in the hospital and registered at a local motel.
