The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Aug. 28, 1959 Champion Cowboy, Well Known Here, Dies in California John Bowman, 59, who first appeared in a Wickenburg rodeo in 1929 and who has visited his friend Everett Bowman (no relation) here many times and as recently as last winter, died in San Francisco August 13. Mr. Bowman, a rancher and a cowboy, won the all-around cowboy championship in London in 1934; was the world champion in 1936; held the national steer roping championship three years; and in 1958 won third in the world championship team roping. A native of Arkansas, he had lived in Oakdale, Calif., in 1935.
