HAMERSTROM,
Albert
Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona
August 5, 1965
With the death of Albert Hamerstrom at his home here July 30, the community lost one of it s more interesting and colorful residents. He had lived on Kellis Road here since 1947.
Widely traveled and great reader, Mr. Hamerstrom could discourse with authority and interest on a wide range of subjects. He was especially fond of telling of the time when he was employed in the law office of Clarence Darrow, the famous Chicago criminal lawyer best known for his role as defense attorney in the notorious Loeb-Leopold murder trial of the 1920’s.
A native of Galesburg, Ill., Mr. Hammerstrom was 83 years of age at the time of his death. At one time he owned a foundry in Evanston, Ill., and later was vice-president of the San Francisco street railway system. Still later he served as a reporter on the San Francisco Examiner and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, retiring in 1947 when he moved here. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge which conducted graveside rites at the Wickenburg Cemetery following funeral services in the Wickenburg Funeral Home at 4:30 p.m. Sunday conducted by the Rev. Bert Follmer of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Efforts to locate a surviving daughter have not been successful.
