WENGER, Brad D.

Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona December 11, 1969 Brad D. Wenger, 23-year-old Las Vegas youth riding atop a huge fabricated steel tank, was electrocuted at approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when he came in contact with the 7,200—volt power line crossing the Prescott Highway at Palm Lane. The truck pulling the trailer on which the tank was loaded had stopped to permit the youth to climb to the top of the tank to clear the power lines. Driver of the truck, Perry W. Ratliff, Jr. of Phoenix, saw the tragedy through his rear vision mirror, he told investigating Officer Sgt. Karl Miller of the Wickenburg Police Department. The truck was enroute from Bullhead City to Ft. McDowell, it was 16 feet, 10 inches from the paving to the top of the tank. The trucking company had a special permit from the Arizona Highway Department to transmit the over-limit load. Police Chief Dick Savage notified the fire department and two trucks hastened to the scene but there was no fire. Firemen climbed ladders to the top of the tank to remove the body, as pictured here.
