CARROLL, James L.


James L. Carroll, 59, of Northfield, MN, formerly of Tempe, passed away June 21st, 2002. He is survived by Arlene, the love of his life for 37 years; daughter Sarah Gambach and husband Bradley; son Daniel and wife Teresa; parents Rev. & Mrs. J. Leonard Carroll; and many other loving relatives & friends. Jim was a devoted husband and father whose love of sailing was only surpassed by his dedication to education and learning. For 13 years he was a Professor of Educational Psychology at Arizona State University. Jim and Arlene were members of University Presbyterian Church of Tempe. Subsequently, Jim served for 7 years as Professor and Dean of Education at Wichita State University. In 1996 Jim and his family moved to Northfield, MN, where he became President of ViA, Inc. and held this position until he became ill in 1999. Jim had a keen mind, an enduring faith, and a generous heart. He lived with vigor and passionand sailed his ship into port with dignity, grace, and humor. A celebration of Jim's life will take place June 29th at The United Methodist Church of Northfield. Memorials preferred to The James L.
