Margaret Elizabeth Asher, 92 fell asleep in Jesus on May 30, 2003, to await the glorious resurrection. She died at Weyrich Health Care Center of Westminster Village in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she had been a resident since 1990.
Earlier residences in Arizona included Phoenix (1972-1978) and Sun City (1978-1990). She moved to Arizona from Schenectady, New York in 1972 with her husband, Leslie I. Asher, who preceded her in death. They lived in a number of communities, including Schenectady, Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Marblehead, Massachusetts.
After graduating from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York in 1932 with a Bachelor's Degree, she was a school Librarian and then a full time homemaker. Born on January 6, 1911 in Corinth, New York, as the daughter of Lena Altha nee Wheaton and Henry Edward Siegel, she was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol A. McKee of Rio Vista, California; Nancy A. Groh of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Martha J. Bleke of Davenport, Iowa. Eight grandchildren live in California, North Carolina, Arizona and Illinois, and she had five great grandchildren. She is a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood and a faithful parishioner of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, American Lutheran Church and La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church in Arizona.
A Memorial Service will be held at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church 6300 E. Bell Rd. In Scottsdale at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, June 7th, 2003 and contributions may be made to La Casa's Memorial Fund.
