ARRIGO, Anthony J.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, April 3, 2003 Anthony J. Arrigo, 79 of Scottsdale, AZ, born in Bolognetta, Italy, died March 31, 2003. A man died today, a man of spirituality, integrity, high ethical standards, deliberate in decisions, and honest to a fault. Although born in Italy, he loved America, he served in WWII as a Major in the Navy and the Korean War as Captain in the Army. He was awarded American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon, and WWII Victory Medal. He had degrees in engineering and law and helped our environment by designing a national automotive emissions inspection program. He was instrumental in the development of the Civitan Camp for physically and mentally disadvantaged youth and worked as a member of NASA space program. He was a member of the Knights of St. Louis, Masons, Knights of Columbus, and The Mens Club. In addition to these accomplishments, his devotion was to his wife, Antoinette Arrigo, Ph.D. and to his dog, Amanda. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a generous provider, a good hearted soul that sought family harmony, and a loyal friend. He will be missed. Survivors: Antoinette Arrigo (wife), Fran LaPalusa & Joseph Arrigo (siblings); Maureen Arrigo (natural daughter); Maria, Paul and Rosanne Magarelli (step children); Lisa Magarelli & Robert Holland (grandchildren); and Christopher Magarelli-Reese (great-grandchild). Preceded in death by: Mother (Josephine Arrigo) and Father (Philip Arrigo). Service: St. Patrick Catholic Community Church, 10815 North 84th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260, Sat., April 5, 2003 at 1pm, reception to follow at church.
