Anthony Gregory Scarabino, 79, of Gainesville, Fla., died Jan. 2, 2010, at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 21, 1930, in Watertown, N.Y. After he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, he was a chiropractor, restaurant owner and was an ordained deacon in the Catholic Church. He most recently enjoyed his hobby of designing and keeping a koi pond.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gilda Barberio Scarabino; his wife of 40 years, June E. Scarabino and son Greg Scarabino.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Beazlie Scarabino of Gainesville, Fla.; son Ralph Scarabino of Kingman; daughter Rita Scarabino of Phoenix; son Terry Scarabino of Phoenix; daughter Lynn Lopez of Glendale; sister Louise Scott of Somerville, Mass.; twin brother Jerry Scarabino of Waldo, Fla., and three grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 8, at 4 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 500 N.E. 16th Ave. with Father Roland Julien as Celebrant.
Graveside services will take place in Taylor at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church Building Fund, 500 N.E. 16th Ave. Gainesville, FL 32601; P.K. Yonge D.R.S. Alumni Fund 1080 S.W. 11th Street, Gainesville, FL 32601 or a charity of your choice.
