Stanley Patrick, 86, of Gold Canyon, Arizona died May 23, 2003, at Mesa Memorial Hospital. Born in Pgh. PA he was a former resident of Port Richey, Fl. for 26 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Laura Patrick; daughters Linda Patrick and Kathleen Churay; son Stanley Patrick Jr.; son-in-law Ray Churay; and granddaughter Leah Churay.
Stanley was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a Japanese P.O.W for 3 1/2 years. Taken on the Island of Corregidor, Philippines he survived the second wave of the Bataan Death March. He was interned in Cabanatuan and Hoten, Manchuria prison camps. He belonged to the Ex P.O.W Fl. Chapter No.1 and the Ex P.O.Ws of Mesa. He was a Postal Supervisor in Pgh. Pa. and a lifetime member of the National Assoc. of Postal Supervisors.
He gave very generously of his time to the Paralyzed Veterans of Fl. and other volunteer activities. He survived harsh adversity and pain in his early life to become a man of great strength, generosity, and high morals. He learned to water ski in his 60's and climbed to the top of Sleeping Bear Dunes in MI. at age 79. Stan will be remembered for loving a good time, a good laugh, adventure, Chess, and for trying to make good things happen for those he loved. He is missed beyond words.
