RICE, Ross Richard

Ross Richard Rice, born January 13, 1922 in Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away December 29, 2002 in Mesa. 

Beloved husband of Marie. Cherished father of Marilyn, Roxanne, Valerie and Laurie. Also survived by sisters Rosemary Carlson, Phyllis Notson, and Nancy Wetmore. And nine grandchildren. 

Served with the Air Corps U.S. Army, 1942-1945. PhD. University of Chicago, 1956. Professor of Political Science, A.S.U., 1950-89. Active in civic affairs and public service including Mayor, city of Tempe, member of Tempe City Council; President, Tempe Historical Society; member American Political Science Association. Author of profssional articles and publications. 

Memorial service to be at Friendship Village Convocational center Thursday January 2, 2003. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the Ross R. Rice Fund-Department of Political Science, checks payable to the A.S.U. Foundation. Carr Tenney Mortuary handled arrangements.
