CHEVALIER, M.D., Jimmy E.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, April 4, 2003 Jimmy E. Chevalier M.D., died April 1, 2003. Jim was born June 14, 1945 in North Platte, Nebraska, and graduated in 1968 from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the Air Force in 1968 and served for 20 years, retiring as a colonel in 1988. While in the Air Force, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating in 1976. He completed a pediatric residency and allergy fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He moved to Litchfield Park in 1981 and served as Chief of Medicine and Chief of Hospital Services at Luke AFB Hospital. In 1988 he joined the Arizona Asthma and Allergy Institute. Jim was a past president of the Arizona Allergy Society and the Phoenix Allergy and Asthma Society, active in his church, and loved dancing and bike riding. He was twice chosen by his peers as a Phoenix magazine "Top Doc". Jim is survived by his wife, Susan; a daughter, Nicole; a son, Danion; daughter-in-law, Kristie; his granddaughter, Kate Jacqueline; as well as by his parents, Paul and Edith Chevalier; and brothers Don, Doug and Tim Chevalier. He was preceded in death by his sisters Judy Autry and Teresa Hill. A memorial service will be held at St.Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Litchfield Park on Saturday, April 5th at 11am.
