The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, March 12, 2003 Helen Coplan, age 97, passed away March 6, 2003, in Mesa, Arizona. She attended schools in Snowflake, Lakeside, and Taylor and graduated from Northern Arizona Teachers College in 1925. An active member of the L.D.S. Church, she held various positions in the organizations. She has been a member of the D.U.P. for over 40 years. Helen is survived by two daughters, Thelma Lois McNeill, and Winona May Adams; one brother, Joseph W. Larson; two sisters, Norma Elliott and Dorothy Lisonbee; 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marsden A. Larson, a sister, Maxine Cole and a daughter, Mary Margaret Scott. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday March 14, 2003, at the L.D.S. Meadow Green East Ward, 851 S. 32nd St., Mesa, Az., with a viewing from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15th, 2003, in the Lakeside Cemetery. Helen was born Oct. 30, 1905 in Snowflake, the oldest daughter of Alof Pratt and Margaret Smith Larson. She was raised and attended school in Snowflake, Lakeside and Taylor. She attended and graduated from the Northern Arizona Teachers College in 1925. She taught school for two years at a rural school in Perkinsville. Helen owned and operated her own drapery business for over 25 years and has had her quilts and work go all over the world. She was a housewife, and loved raising her family. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various positions in the organizations, including Relief Society President and Primary President. She has been a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for over 40 years. Helen is survived by two daughters, Thelma Lois McNeill of Jal, New Mexico and Winona May Adams of Mesa; one brother, Joseph W. Larson of Hollister, California, Norma Elliott of Lakeside and Dorothy Lisonbee of Tempe; 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marsden A. Larson; a sister, Maxine Cole; and a daughter, Mary Margaret Scott. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Meadow Green Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 851 S. 32nd St. in Mesa. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be held Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeside Cemetery.
