WOOD, C. Gerald (Jerry)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, April 4, 2003 C. Gerald "Jerry' Wood, 87, of Tempe, and formerly of Wickenburg, passed away on April 3. Jerry will be remembered for his dedication to community, his love for family, and his deep religious faith. From 1959 - 1974, Jerry was President and CEO of the YMCA's of Metropolitan Detroit. In 1974, Jerry and his late wife of 59 years, Elizabeth, retired to Wickenburg. Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and talent for telling wonderful stories. His greatest joy in his later years was spending time with his loving family who survive him: children Richard (Diane) of Ortonville, Michigan; Paul (Sandy) of Bernardsville, New Jersey; Bruce of Vista, California; and Anne Schelling (William) of Tempe; grandchildren Sherri Krause (John), John Wood, Joy Silveri (Andrew), Matthew Wood, Breon Wood, Joseph Wood, and Olivia Wood; great granddaughters Rebecca and Anne Krause; brother Francis Wood (Marjorie), sister-in-law Jean Craig (Robert), and several nieces and nephews.
