Evergreen Mortuary, Tucson, Arizona ~ October 15th 2009 Roy S. Behrens, It is with great sadness and love that we say farewell to Roy S. Behrens, 77 years young. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, his adoring son, Michael, Gilbert, AZ and his brother, Morty Behrens, Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Ceil Behrens and his brother, Herb Behrens. Roy was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1932. He and his family later moved to Springfield, IL where he graduated from Springfield High School in 1950. He served his country in the Korean War as a photographer in the 4th Signal Battalion X Corps, where he photographed everything from American generals and wartime images to actress Terry Moore at a USO Show. Roy later became a Certified Professional Photographer of America in Lincoln, IL where he owned and operated Continental Studio for over 30 years, bringing light and life to the memories of all who crossed his path. During this time, Roy and his brother Morty also owned and operated Edwards Jewelry. He met his wife Barbara in October 1966 and they were married May 7th, 1967 for 42 years of togetherness. Their son Michael came into their lives in 1971, bringing much joy to this already happy family. The Behrens moved from Lincoln, IL to Tucson, AZ in 1986. Roy founded the Telephone Jack Specialist company before retiring to a life filled with his passion for photography, helping others through Silver Sneakers fitness classes and spending time with his friends and family. Most recently, Roy and Barb took a three-week vacation to Kenya, Africa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 16th, 2009 at Temple Emanuel, 225 N. Country Club Rd., with Rabbi Samuel Cohon officiating. Graveside interment to follow at All Faith’s Cemeteries, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson. All are welcome in attendance to celebrate the life of this strong, loving, adventurous and spirited man.
