Rosalie Anne Johnson, Sun City West, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord June 24, 2002. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Clement and Frances Lee (Pulio) Calabrese, a building contractor and housewife.
After studying to become a registered Nurse, Rosalie served in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII at the rank of Second Lieutenant. While serving her country she met and married Captain Arthur Joseph Johnson of Nebraska in June of 1945.
For the next 42 years they raised their family on a wheat ranch in Western Nebraska. Rosalie moved to Arrowhead Ranch in 1987 where she was active with the Glendale Women's Club, the Glendale Library, Welcome Wagon, St. Helen's Church and was a substitute school nurse for several northwest school districts. She has been a resident of Sun City West since 1995 where she volunteered for the Sundome, participated in the Clown Club, the SCW Variety show and enjoyed tap dancing.
Rosalie is survived by her loving daughter, Marleejan "MJ" Johnson Perez of Peoria, Arizona and her grand-twins Cruz & Alejandra and little granddaughter Vitoria. Son, Arthur J. "A.Jay" Johnson Jr. and wife Judy, grandchildren Dr. & Mrs. Todd Johnson; Rebecca, and another pair of grand-twins Mark and Airforce Lieutenant Matthew Johnson. Her sister Martha Mandrake of Norristown, PA also survives her. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband Arthur, infant daughter Janice Lee, brother Clement Calabrese Jr. and her parents.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, June 28th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 19002 West 128th Ave., Sun City West. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Westside Crisis Center-a beautiful refuge for abused, neglected or abandoned children at PO Box 844, Glendale, AZ 85311 or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements made by Heritage Funeral Chapel.
