Rev. Walter W. Thompson, 90, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away June 25, 2002. Born in Murphysboro, IL on Nov. 17, 1911, he moved to Arizona 50 years ago from Charleston, IL. His ministry spanned 50 years including churches in Illinois and Arizona, such as First Baptist Church, Immanuel Baptist in Phoenix, Church of the Master in Tucson, and Morenci Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mildred G.; daughters, Cathryn (Tom) Sakiyama of Glendora, AZ Crystal Tillman of Phoenix, AZ; son, Charles (Stephanie) of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Lisana, Alisa, Shelly (Don), Scott, Mark, Matthew, Kyle, and Susannah and great-grandchild, Tori. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jon. A memorial service will be held on Fri., June 28, 2002 at First Baptist Church of Scottsdale, 7025 E. Osborn Rd., and also a Memorial Service on Sat., June 29, 2002 at Orangewood Retirement Community Chapel, 7550 N. 16th St., Phoenix.
