WILLNER, Lawrence L. (Skeet)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona January 8, 2010 Lawrence L 'Skeet' Willner died Dec. 30, 2009, at Sun City West. He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Memphis, Tenn. Skeet joined the U.S. Navy as a youngster at the age of 17 in 1942 and served until 1951. Skeet lived and worked in Tucson before returning to the U.S. Navy as a Sea Bee in 1966. He retired as chief from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of sevice. He moved to Show Low about 1984, where he made his home until moving to the Valley in 2002 after the death of his wife of 56 years, Gerry in 2001. He is survived by his son, Larry Willner (Mary Mical); daughter Linda Johnson (Lanny) and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence L. Willner Sr.; brother Frank R Willner and sisters Betty Jean (Willner) Hadley and Shirley Ann Willner. The family will have a private ceremony at Show Low Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife Geraldine "Gerry" Levita [Crabtree] Willner.
