Bobbie G. Green of Kingman passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, after a long illness. He was born in Monterey, Calif., on Oct. 7, 1932. He was married to Patsy Beck in 1953. The marriage of 53 years ended with her death in July 2006.
He worked in the motion picture industry for 35 years, working as cinema technician, transporting generators used for lighting in the making of movies. This included many others jobs, too numerous to name, making him an expert in his field.
He traveled the whole United States and parts of Canada and Mexico. He worked in the making of the movie here in Kingman called "Route 66."
He liked Kingman so well that he decided to retire here with his wife and family in 1998.
He was a classic car enthusiast; he restored his 1941 GMC and 1959 Ranchero, winning many trophies on both. He had a long-time standing membership with the "Route 66 Cruizers."
He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1953 in the Korean War. He served on the U.S.S. William Seiverling (DE-441) as a boilerman. He was so proud of serving his country. He had vivid memories of his time in the Navy and great stories to tell.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Wilhite of Las Vegas; his granddaughters, Nancy Cordova of Kingman and Shaina Green and Amanda Wilhite, both of Las Vegas; grandsons, Casey Green of Homosassa, Fla., Travis Green of Palmdale, Calif.; and brother, Tom Green of Kingman; his great-granddaughters, Hanna and Lilly Green, Madeline Cordova and Olivia Green; great-grandsons, Anthony Cordova, Triston Green, Atrayu Green and Julian Green; his brother, Tom Green of Kingman; Julia Green of Utah; and companion, Patti Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his son Eric in 2002.
Bob was a very colorful and interesting person, well liked and loved by his family and friends.
Viewing will be between 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., Kingman.
