Natalie Ruth Dorf Norton passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, in Kingman. Natalie was born in Elba, N.Y., on Dec. 10, 1914. She was a graduate of Brockport University, a teacher's college, and taught elementary school for 22 years at Elba Central School.
She and her husband, Locklin, frequently traveled across the U.S. visiting family and friends, and were active members of New York Flying Farmers Association and Holiday Rambler RV Club. Natalie and Locklin, or Nan and Lock, as they were called, retired to Golden Valley in 1970. Natalie was an avid naturalist, a clever crosswork puzzle solver, card and game player, sports fan and an artist. She will be dearly missed.
Natalie is survived by her son, Dr. Denis Norton, and daughter-in-law, Dana Perkins, of Stanley, Idaho; by six granddaughters, Dr. Denise Norton (Michael Slattery) of Denver, Deborah Jickling (David) of Reno, Nev., Darlene Norton of Hailey, Idaho, Michel Karas of Sunnyvale, Calif., Sarah Balduf of Darien Center, N.Y., Jill Fox (Julian) of Boulder Creek, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Sierra and Moriah Jickling and Joshua and Isaac Balduf. She is also survived by Helen and Wayne Huff, Larry and Donna Karas, numerous relatives and friends, plus her long-time companion, Harold Langer. Her daughter, Candace Natalie (1979) and husband, Locklin Norton (1986) preceded her in death.
Memorial donations may be made to a charitable organization in honor of Natalie Norton.
