Lee Vernon Helton, 95, of Kingman passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at his home. He was born April 28, 1914, in Hermosa, N.M. He came to Kingman 36 years ago from Boulder City, Nev.
Lee's work history included cowboy for G.O.S. Ranch in New Mexico, high scaler during the construction of Hoover Dam and hardrock miner and open pit copper miner. He helped build the WWII defense plants in Henderson, Nev. He was also a diesel mechanic for a logging company, a maintenance mechanic for chemical plants in Henderson, and a plumber for the Bureau of Reclamation at Hoover Dam. He retired from U.S.B.R. in 1976.
Lee is survived by his wife of 68 years, Leah Helton; two daughters, Udean Helton of Prescott and Wanda (Wayne) Helms of Kingman; and two sons, Marty (Lois) Bush of Boulder City and Sheril (Bobbi) Helton of Yellville, Ark. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
