Junette (June) Althea Haroldson, 93, died peacefully in Glendale, Ariz., on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009. She was born in 1916 in Osnabrock, N.D., the second and youngest child of Corrine and Harvey Wakeford.
It was there that she met and married her husband of 69 years, Ole Haroldson, who had been her high school teacher. They began dating after she graduated and eloped six months later. June was a loving wife and homemaker in the truest sense of the word. She was an active mother and especially enjoyed following the athletic careers of her sons. She was a good friend to many, supporting Republican women's groups and women's organizations affiliated with the Lutheran Church. June enjoyed bowling, painting, dancing and especially costume jewelry. She wasn't fully clothed without her earrings! June Haroldson was a kind and generous person, a devoted Christian who was unfailingly loyal and supportive of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd, in 1981 and by her husband, Ole, in 2003 at the age of 96. She is survived by sons Bruce (Joan) Haroldson of Goodyear, Ariz., and Ray (Patty) Haroldson of Lake Oswego, Ore.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to North Dakota, the Haroldsons lived in Montana, Washington, Colorado, and finally, Prescott, Ariz., where they spent the last 30 years of their life together.
A celebration of life memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 16, 2010, at American Lutheran Church in Prescott with interment at Dovre Cemetery in Osnabrock, N.D.
