The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, April 6, 2003 Mary Elizabeth "Liz" (Kelley) Walsh , Liz was born in the house her grandfather built in Middleboro, Massachusetts on March 5, 1911. She was the oldest child of Lawrence Kelley and Marie Lepre. She was sister to Francis and Lawrence Kelley, both who preceded her in death. Liz lived and worked in Middleboro until she was twenty five, supporting her father Lawrence and step mother Kathryn Kelley on her wages from her work at the local laundry during the depression. She relocated to Florida for a brief time, working tables at the Hollywood Beach Hotel, then moved to New York City to pursue her musical and design interests. It was in NY that she met Jerome E. Walsh. They were married in 1941 and settled on the upper East Side, before moving to Long Island in 1947 where they had one daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Elizabeth Walsh. In 1953 the family moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey. Liz designed the home they built on Round Top Road. They were active in a small acting troupe, The Village Players, and both Liz and Jerry starred in many local productions; most notably "The Cain Mutiny Court Marshall" and "The Male Animal". In 1958 she moved to Tucson Arizona where she was a resident until 1999 when she relocated to Phoenix to be near her daughter. She was active in the Tucson community, serving as PTA co-founder at St. Joseph's Academy, selling real estate for A.P. Brown and was active in the women's golf association at El Rio Country Club. Liz is survived by her daughter Kathy Walsh Ostapuk, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Timothy, Matthew, Kyle and Claire Ostapuk and many friends and care givers who supported her the past few years.
