WARNER, Dorothy Jane *

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, April 6, 2003 Dorothy Jane Knox Warner, 100, died March 20, 2003. She was born August 5, 1902 near Covode, Pennsylvania to Silas Knox and Dessa (Stanley). She grew up on her family's farm and graduated from Indiana Teacher's College. She taught school in Pitcairn and later in the Erie School system. She later worked at the Erie Library after several throat operations prevented her from teaching. She retired to Phoenix in 1968 becoming active at Cross Roads Methodist Church and sewing dresses for the back-to-school program. She is survived by her two children, Eugene Knox and Jane Warner Battersby, six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene S. Warner. No services are planned. Newcomer Family Mortuary of Scottsdale assisted the family. Courtesy of Pat Wilson.
