It is with great sadness that we share the passing of a most special person, Alice L. Fuller, who died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. Alice was the greatest of mothers, the most loyal of friends and the most welcome of community volunteers. We will miss her unselfish love, generosity and sense of humor. The world was blessed by her presence and is a lonelier place without her.
Alice was born and raised in San Francisco, Calif., and graduated from Lowell High School. During WWII, the family moved to Los Angeles and she married Dr. Homer Garson. For many years, she managed the Beverly Hills dental office of Dr. Jules Zimmerman. Shortly after, Alice went to work for Wilson Sporting Goods in the outside sales division. Alice then accepted a position with the accounting department at Garrett AirResearch in Southern California until her retirement and second marriage to Gordon Fuller. When her husband received a job transfer, they relocated to Phoenix. Alice was widowed and moved to Prescott in 1988.
Alice had a keen interest in people, history and community events. Alice's genuine attention to young people was expressed by her inquisitiveness as to goals and aspirations of almost everyone she met. While living in Phoenix, Alice was a docent at the Heard Museum and led tours. People always felt welcomed by her smile and enthusiasm. In Prescott, Alice served as a volunteer with the Sister City Association of Prescott, the Veterans Administration Hospital, the Phippen Museum, the Yavapai Community College Performance Hall, Fort Whipple Museum and the Sharlot Hall Museum. During the past three years, Alice rediscovered her artistic ability through a beading hobby with her dear friends.
Alice leaves her beloved son, Darrell Eriksen (Debi), loving cousins and many very special friends.
A tribute to her life is being planned for January 2010 in Prescott, Ariz. The family asks that all donations be sent to the Sharlot Hall Museum, 415 West Gurley St., Prescott, AZ 86301, indicating that the gift is in Alice Fuller's memory.
