Melvin Richard Riff, born on October 13, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on April 5, 2003 at the age of 79. He was a graduate of Heights High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Mel was a graduate of Western Reserve University in Business.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served his country with pride. After owning a children's clothing store in Cleveland, Mel became a real estate broker for over 15 years. He retired in Scottsdale, AZ in 1976 and enjoyed playing cards, golfing, tennis and ice skating.
Mel is survived by his wife Betty J. (Lapars) Riff of 35 years; his children Shari Kessler and her husband Earl, Paula Riff and her husband Kevin; Vernon Riff and his wife Ginger; his stepchildren Debbie Spodeck and her husband Michael; Michael Dwosh and his wife Janice; and Sue Schooley and her husband Tim, and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 8th at 2:30 pm at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, 401 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
