WALLIS, Wilson M.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Monday, April 7, 2003 Wilson M. Wallis, 91, passed away from this earth on March 27, 2003, predeceased by his wife Julia. He was born on September 2, 1911 in American Falls, Idaho. He graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He served his country in the Army Corps in World War II. Wilson lived in Long Beach, California for over 50 years, where he was an active member and choir member of the First Methodist Church. His interests included photography, traveling, membership in the Long Beach Trailer Club, dancing with the Gadabouts square dancers, and raising orchids. He retired from Shell Oil Company, Los Angeles, where he worked in the production laboratory. After retirement he volunteered as a tutor at Long Beach Community College, and the University of California Long Beach. He believed in conservation and protecting nature. In December 2000, Wilson made the move to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to his family. He was a kind and gentle man with great integrity. He will be remembered for his life long love of learning, music, sense of humor, and love of his family. He is survived by his daughters Julia and Laura, two grandsons, two great granddaughters, nephew, two grandnephews, and grandniece. He will be dearly missed.
