WILLIAMS, Walter Charles (Charlie), Jr.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 01/15/2010 Walter Charles Williams Jr. (Charlie), 87, of Snowflake died Thursday Jan. 7, 2010, at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 5, 1922, in El Vado, N.M., to Walter C. Williams Sr. and Irene Inez Rose. He lived most of his life in McNary and Snowflake. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as the First Branch President in McNary and many other church callings. He served a temple mission with his wife Renee` in the Mesa Temple. He was a very generous and hardworking man and had wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed his career as a saw filer and worked at many locations in New Mexico and Arizona. He proudly served his country and served as a staff sergent First batallian 10th Marines battery C-2nd Marine division in WWII South Pacific Theater. Charlie was a avid RC model airplane hobbyist and member of the "Bald Eagle Squadron." He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his children, Nancy (Steven) Brimhall, Susan (Loren) Hogan, Dennis (Dixie) Williams, Marcie (Glenn) Allen, Charles (Juaina) Williams, Carol (Colin) Amos; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and sister Betty Arnds. He was preceded in death by his wife, Renee; parents W.C. Williams Sr. and Irene Inez Rose; brother Howard and sister Elsie. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary, Heritage Chapel 84 E. 19 S. Snowflake. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with visitation begining at 9 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangments.
