Show Low resident Josephine Ann Stephens (better known as "Cookie") died Dec. 5, 2009, from medical complications from a failed kidney transplant. 
     
She was born May 7, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., to Sam and Betty Santo. Cookie married Quincy Euvone Stephens and remained a lifelong friend to childhood friend Phyllis Cramp. She was an avid reader but always made time to give of herself to anyone in need.
     
Cookie is survived by son, Tony Jakich; adopted son Nick Kelly and grandchildren Jessica Jakich, Jamie Jakich, Jenny Jakich and Marcus Silva-Kelly.
     
Memorial services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 1400 E. Owens in Show Low with Pastor Joe Bronski officiating. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Call (480) 766-3769 if you plan on attending.
