Elizabeth White, 66, died Jan. 4, 2010, on the Ak-Chin Reservation in Maricopa. She was born May 26, 1943, in Indian Wells.
She worked with elders at Ak-Chin Senior Center, where she would teach her many crafts to them. Mrs. White graduated from Intermountain Utah and went to school for nursing at Apollo College in Phoenix. She was a Christian. A hobbyist, she enjoyed rug weaving, sewing, crocheting, needle point and canvas craft. She spent the last 10 years of her life in Ak-Chin with her nieces and nephews, where she was loved and cherished by the community.
Mrs. White is survived by her son, Ronald Mitchell; daughters Lorena Yazzie and Lucille Mitchell; sisters Laverne Duran, Ruth Thompson and Rosita Spencer; brothers Raymond Pete, Lloyd Pete and Earl Pete; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Damian White; son Delford Mitchell; parents Mary Rose Pete and Charley Pete; and brother Glen Pete.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Hallelujah Canyon Church. Interment to follow at Indian Wells Community Cemetery.
