THOMSPON, Velma Mae


Velma Mae Thompson, 95 died April 27, 2003 in Sun City, AZ. Velma was born April 24, 1908 to Wilma and Walker Thompson, at home on a farm, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She loved to tell the story of riding a horse to school. Velma graduated from the University of Michigan and became a primary school teacher in various Detroit Schools until retirement. In 1975 she moved to Sun City, Arizona. During retirement years Velma worked as a model for still and live commercials. She is survived by her sister, Agatha Pavsner, who resides at Desert Winds Assisted Living in Peoria, AZ. Private services are to be held at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Memorials may be made in her name to the Church of Christ Building Fund, 19035 W. Olive, Peoria, AZ 85382. Published in the Arizona Republic on 5/1/2003.
