Jane Ilynne "Janey" Duganz, 48, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003, in Phoenix Arizona surrounded by family and friends.
She was born September 27, 1954, in Anaconda MT. She attended Anaconda schools and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1972. She then went on to attend DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix and was the first woman to graduate. She did so with honors.
Janey served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an Avionics Communications Instructor. She was a staff sergeant E-5 when honorably discharged in 1982, after which she moved to Arizona.
Janey worked for Channel 8, KAET for twenty years as a broadcast engineer. She was really a "jack of all trades" and participated in whatever was necessary to keep the programs on the air. She was a fly fisher even tying her own flies. Janey and her dad Robert spent many hours together enjoying the sport. She was also an avid baseball fan, in large part because her nephew Ben is a player of the game. She became involved in youth sports and was a coach for both boys' baseball and girls' softball. She was also involved in Pop Warner football.
In addition Janey was an artist, athlete, gardener and independent woman. If it broke she could fix it. She is now and forever a great daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will remain in our hearts forever.
She leaves behind her father Robert of Anaconda. Sisters Cathleen (Bill) Belanger, and Mary Anne Duganz of Glendale, AZ, Brothers Michael (Kathleen) of Anaconda, James (Renee) of Gresham, OR. And her friend, Nibby Orona of Chandler, AZ. She will be remembered well by her niece Sarah Belanger and her nephews Benjamin Belanger and Robert (Melissa) Duganz of Glendale and Patrick Duganz of Anaconda. She will also be remembered by Joe, Jeremy and Kendra Williams of Gresham. She also leaves behind her dogs "Yvonne" and "Zeus" and cat "Bini." Janey loved all animals and whenever there was a stray or injured animal in need our Janey would jump to the rescue.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary and her brother Bobby. She knew in death they would be together again.
We will be sharing Janeys life through photographs with friends and family on Thursday, April 10, 2003, between 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Chapel 6830 W Thunderbird Rd.
