Charles Allen Baird, 80, of Casa Grande died May 27, 2002, at RTA Hospice In-patient Care.
A brief memorial service will be held Saturday at Casa Verde Estates clubhouse, with the Rev. Raymond Wilson officiating. A graveside service will be held later in Ottumwa, Iowa, at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Baird was born Dec. 2, 1921 to Ray and Gerada Baird. He was raised in the Floris and Eldon, Iowa, area and graduated from Eldon High School. He served in the Army Air Corps and had a total of 34 years of active and reserve duty, retiring as a major. He was a parts manager for John Deere for six years. He later spent 27 years in medical group management at South Ottumwa (Iowa) Medical Center and for the late Dr. Phillip McIntosh in Casa Grande. Before retiring he was office manager for Arizona Grain Inc. in Casa Grande.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda F. Reder of Richland, Wash., and Diane L. Dallner of Batavia, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Terry Anderson of Chandler; two brothers, John of Mesa and Phillip of Lewisville, Texas; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Rosemary F. (Morain); his second wife of 25 years, Mary (Harris); a stepson, Jerry Harris; a sister, Phyllis Truax; and a young brother, Jimmy.
