BAILEY, Julia Bell


Julia Bell Bailey, 88, of Buckeye died Dec. 25, 2002. Mrs. Bailey was born May 22, 1941, in Stillwell, Okla., where she met and married John Bailey in 1935. In 1940, the couple moved to Buckeye where they raised 11 children. During her younger years, Mrs. Bailey was active in her church, Assembly of God. She was known for her cooking, including her chicken and dumplings, fried chicken and her homemade biscuits. She collected teapots, bringing one home whenever she traveled. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1998. She is survived by seven daughters, Betty Morgan of Prior, Okla., Joyce McKinney, Wanda Kimbrell, Edith Arend and Karen Bailey of Buckeye, Margaret Morgan of Indianapolis, Esther Neil of Salem, Ore.; four sons, Vernon of Roseville, Calif., Dewey and Joe of Buckeye, and Johnnie Lavonne Woodward of Phoenix; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A service was held Dec. 30 at the First Assembly of God Church in Buckeye. The Rev. Leroy Owens officiated. Interment was at Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park near her late husband, John. Buckeye Funeral Home made the arrangements.
