Andrew P. (Andy) Ellis passed away peacefully at his home in Chino Valley on April 20, 2008. Andy was born on Aug. 22, 1925, in Globe, Ariz., to Willie Ben Nail and Pascoe Ellis.
Andy served in the Navy during World War II as a trained sonar man on the minesweeper ships. After being discharged, he attended ASU for one year and then graduated from the University of Utah in Logan, Utah, with a degree in Forestry. He retired from the Forest Service in 1983 with 30 years of service. He has lived in Chino Valley since 1979. He was a self-taught artist and wood craftsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Andy is survived by his wife of 62 years, LaPrele; and his children, Lloyd and Rose Ellis of Las Vegas, N.M., and Elanna and Richard Jackson of Chino Valley. He also has eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the LDS Church on Perkinsville Road in Chino Valley. Visitation will be 10 a.m. in the Relief Society Room.
Chino Valley Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
