OLSON, Elmer J. (Ole)


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, April 9, 2003 Elmer J. Olson, born May 20, 1924 in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. "Ole" served in the U.S.M.C. in WWII in Iwo Jima. He moved to Arizona in 1958. He retired from the Phoenix Elementary School District in 1983. Elmer was the ASA Commissioner and also the Metro Men's fast pitch softball director for many years. Elmer was active in the Elks Lodge. He was predeceased by his wife Clara May. He is survived by 5 children; JoAnn Bodway (Dave) of Phoenix, Karla Townsend (Scott) of Las Vegas, Bonny Olson of Phoenix, Lyn Olson (Donald) of Colorado, Bill Olson of Phoenix and by 4 grandchildren; Justina, Holly, Ryan and Alex. He is also survived by one brother Dr. Richard Olson of Ohio. Join us on Thursday April 10 from 2-5pm to celebrate Elmer's life. 14300 W. Bell Road, Sun Village, by the tennis courts.
