The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona
Thursday, April 10, 2003
Katheryn Opal (Love) Hardcastle slipped away from the presence of family and friends into the presence of the Lord on Monday, April 7, 2003.
She was born August 15, 1906 in Williamson County, TX to Hutchison and Minnie Love. Education included studies at Howard Payne Academy in Brownwood, TX and Wayland College in Plainview, TX.
In 1924 she married Louis Willard Hardcastle. They moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1952, where Willard pastored the First Southern Baptist Church. They later moved to Sedona, and finally to Baptist Village in Youngtown, AZ. Willard passed away in 1996. Katheryn's role as a pastor's wife came easily for her since she was a loving, caring individual.
A committed follower of Christ, she taught Bible classes, education and discipleship courses. As a gifted encourager she was known for her cards and notes. She was also a pianist and artist.
Her daughters state that her greatest achievement in life was being a precious mother.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonny Lynn Brewer of Vernon, TX and Ila Fay (Fayly) Cothern of Sun City, AZ, and her youngest sister, Virginia Davis of Florence, TX.
A remembrance service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 11, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Sun City, 111th Ave. and Peoria, with visitation in the church foyer just prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardcastle Family Scholarship Fund, Grand Canyon University, 3300 W. Camelback Rd., Phx, AZ 85017.
