The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona
Thursday, April 10, 2003
Wilford Ira "Bill" Moseley was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, January 4, 1916 and went to be with His Lord on Sunday, April 6th after a brief illness.
Bill met the love of his life, Grace Hoblit, a graduate of Cleburne High School, when he was 16 years old. Bill graduated from Keene Jr. College. Grace & Bill were married in 1934 in Field Street Baptist Church, Cleburne, Texas. He and Grace enjoyed 68 years together. Bill & Grace moved to Arizona during the Depression with two one-way bus tickets and $10 in their pocket.
Bill served in the Army during WWII. He was a draftsman and estimator for both Allison Steel Company & later for Cluer's Mill, a woodworking firm, for a total of 25 years. Later he owned his own Venetian Blind company. Bill was a genuine craftsman with wood and loved to create beautiful furniture. He made custom cabinets and display pieces designed by an interior decorator. Several beautiful custom pieces of furniture, as well as restored antiques, grace the homes of his wife and children.
Before he retired he owned his own real estate investment company. Bill also loved creating lovely jewelry from stones scavenged from rock hunting outings. He is a past president of the Maricopa Lapidary Society, and his children remember those rock hunting jaunts fondly, when they learned to lick the dirt off the rocks like the big boys. Bill helped his home church, Central Baptist, in a very hands-on, practical way, serving as a Deacon, and President of the Board of Trustees. He was always available for every workday, clean up day, car wash or needed repairs to the old building.
For the last 23 years Bill and Grace have attended Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix. For many years the Moseleys have enjoyed the cool summers of Prescott, and were members of the Willow Winds Baptist Church there.
In addition to Grace, Bill is survived by his sister, Marcelle Termin of Dallas; son, Tom and his wife, Shirley; daughter, Judy and her husband, Dr. Richard Martin; son Jerry and his wife, Vickie; grandchildren Alisa Ellis, Linda Hammontree, Dan Martin and Debby McClenny. In addition, he will be missed by five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is at 10:00am, Monday, April 14, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am at Bethany Bible Church, 6060 N. 7th Ave.
