The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, April 10, 2003 Frank Schor, originally from Brooklyn, NY, a Sun City resident for the past 29 years, died peacefully on April 7, 2003 after a long illness. Frank was 91 years old. He is survived by his son, Arthur and his daughter-in-law Deborah of New City, NY and two grandchildren, Stacey and Erica and his great granddaughter, Sophie. Frank, born in Russia in 1911, immigrated to the United States when he was 14 years old. Frank served in the US Army during WWII in the Aleutian Islands. His formal education started at Brooklyn College where he earned a bachelors degree after ten years in night school. He then became a printing teacher in the New York City school system. Frank had no formal training in Hebrew, but his talent for languages, and love of tradition, led to his teaching a Hebrew class which he did for many years. He then switched to teaching a Yiddish class with up to 75 students at Temple Beth Sholom for more than 20 years. Frank also conducted traditional services at Beth Emeth, where he was Chairman of the Ritual Committee for many years. Graveside services will be at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. Donations in Frank's name may be made to Beth Emeth congregation, 13702 W.
