MAVIS, Joseph (Joe)


Joseph (Joe) Mavis, left us all on June 5, 2003. Born September 7, 1934 in Coolidge, Arizona. Survived by: Wife Evangeline Mavis, 2 daughters Patsy Perez (Jesse Perez), Olga Bustos (Ray Bustos), 4 sons Joe Jr. (Cindy), Eddie (Herma), Gabriel (Isabel), Robert (Monica), 20 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Served 4 years in U.S. Army, and 20 years in National Guard. Was a social worker and counselor for Gila Career Center, Arizona State Prison as food supervisor, security guard at Harrah's Casino. Was very active in his community, served 12 years on the school board with Maricopa Unified School District in Maricopa Arizona, and little league coach for 10 years. He enjoyed to sing and play the guitar. Viewing and Rosary will be held on June 9, 2003, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Hgts Rd. in Chandler. Viewing begins at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held on June 10th at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Galveston St. in Chandler at 10:00 a.m. Joe touched many lives, he will be deeply missed.
