Donald V. Stoops, 87, passed away April 2, 2003 in Phoenix. His youth was spent in South Dakota. He served in the Air Corp., Hickman Field, Hawaii. Upon Discharge, Don enrolled at the University of South Dakota, Yankton, South Dakota. He was called back to active duty February 11, 1941, as a member of the 406th Bombardment Group serving anti-submarine duty in the Aleutians until 10/23/45. Don retired from the Federal Aviation Agency January 7, 1979.
Don is survived by Lucille, his wife of 61 years, daughter Sharon (John C. Flatt), son William M. (Catherine), two granddaughters, three great-grand-children and eight nieces and nephews.
He was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Mesa and NARFE Chapter 1505, Tempe. Don enjoyed traveling, hiking and sports before Alzheimer's controlled his enjoyment of life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer NARFE and mailed to Alzheimer's Association, 919 Michigan Avenue, Suite 1000, Chicago, Illinois 60611-1676.
